While chewing and scratching are natural behaviors for dogs and cats, it can be frustrating when valuable furniture and the home are damaged. Additionally, there are dangerous items around the house, such as electrical cords and detergents, that pets may put in their mouths.
Habits of Dogs and Cats:
- Puppies start teething around 3 months old when their baby teeth are replaced by permanent teeth. During this time, their gums itch, and they feel the need to chew on something.
- Scratching is an instinctual behavior for cats to mark their territory with their scent.
- Chewing and scratching are necessary for growth and daily life. It's not realistic to prohibit them entirely.
Use/Application:
- For preventing chewing and scratching: suitable to use on furniture, slippers, walls, bed sheets etc.
- For preventing chewing and licking on limbs or fur of your dog's or cats, or on the surface of bandages or adhesive tapes.
- For preventing your pet eat faeces: spray on your dog or cat's excrement.
- Each spray lasts for 3-4 hours. It takes some time for the training of animals to take effect. If necessary, continue spraying to maintain effectiveness.
- Do not use on leather, white wood, lacquer-coated surfaces, dandruff, or Persian carpets.
- Please test in an inconspicuous area before use. It may leave stains on light colour material
More tips:
- Spray when your pet is not around. When they try to chew or scratch as usual, the unfamiliar smell or taste will gradually make them cautious or uncomfortable.
- The effectiveness varies depending on the environment and where you sprayed, but it lasts for about 3-4 hours. Especially at the beginning, spray several times a day.
- Use consistently. Even if your pet stops chewing or scratching once, continue using it for a while.
- Always provide toys that are safe for chewing. Fabric toys or wooden sticks that can be eaten are recommended for dogs.
- Conduct training simultaneously. If your dog chews on something they shouldn't, immediately say "no" to stop them. When they stop chewing, give them a toy they can chew on and praise them. They will gradually learn what is acceptable to chew on and what is not through this training.
- Besides using training aids, also talk to your pets, exercise them, give them toys, and ensure they have structured playtime throughout the day.
